Caldewhurst to Station Road Update

 Upon removing the surface layer this evening, it became apparent that there is insufficient construction depth at the northern end of Phase One, after the railway bridge towards Caldewhurst.

This issue was not identified during the test coring undertaken in this location.
As a result, temporary traffic lights will be in place at the northernmost section of the scheme for approximately two working days. This will allow the required additional construction depth to be implemented on Wednesday night during operational hours. The proposed arrangements have been reviewed and agreed with our contractor.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. However, these measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the public and to allow the works to be completed to the required standard.
