A section of main that needs to be replaced is approximately 500 metres at either side of The Bridge End pub. The section is a regular bursting main that can cause significant damage and disruption each time it bursts. This is planned to start on 15 September and is estimated to take around 12 weeks under rolling two-way temporary traffic lights. They will be manually controlled at peak times. Access for residents in the area will be maintained at all times and footpaths will be unobstructed at all times. There may be a need to shut the water off from time to time. All customers will be warned at least 48 hours prior to this taking place. As part of the shut off application, any priority service customers will be contacted beforehand to discuss their needs.
We understand these works will cause disruption but given the bursting history of this water main, renewing it before the winter months set in is a high priority.
