CHARITY FOLK CONCERT |
ELAINE DAVIDSON
|
On Wed. 6th May, Elaine Davidson appeared at the Victory Hall, Dalston, supported by Danny Hart, and the audience of over 60 people were very appreciative.
Many of the songs performed were penned by Elaine using a range of Cumbrian themes as her inspiration.
The blend of Elaine's lovely voice and the talented accompaniment by Danny on fiddle and mandolin, created some hauntingly beautiful songs.
It's not quite finalised yet but the concert raised around £180 for Charles Deans's charity.
Thanks to Carol Douglas for organising such a thoroughly enjoyable Folk Night and hopefully it was the start of more to come. |

Uncle Vanya |
|
Dalston Dramatic Society stages a brilliant performance of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov. At times the true meaning might have been a little vague, but if the audience struggled with understanding the direction of the plot this was more than made-up by their admiration of the fine performances of every one of the actors. Message from our PCSO Emma Tonge |
While there has been an small increase in shed breaks in and around Carlisle, there hasn't really been any in the Dalston area. Please be aware of shed breaks and taking steps to prevent valuables being stolen. If Valuable items are stored in sheds, to ensure the shed is in good condition and has a good lock fitted on the door. Shed alarms, driveway alarms and security lights are available to buy from hardware shops or through the police in community safety. Also postcode all property such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmer and garden furniture. Post coding can be done with ultra-violet marker pens, engraving, stamping or even paint. It may not stop the items being taken but may put thief off if you advertise the fact your property is coded and it will certainly improve the chances of tracing the items and perhaps catching the thief. |
