Removal
of BT Telephone Boxes in Dalston Area
BT
plan to remove a number of payphones across Carlisle
District and have consulted the City Council.
In
order for Carlisle City Council to reply it is
inviting local residents' views on the proposed
removal of 27 phone boxes.
In
their letter of notification to the Council, BT
said that calls made from their payphones had
more than halved in the last three years with
60% of the 61,792 payphones in Britain no longer
covering their cost. BT has out a review of its
payphone provision and is now proposing the removal
of a number of payphones in the district. |

Proposed
New Dobbies Garden World, Orton Grange, Dalston,
Carlisle
A
Dobbies Garden World is being proposed on land
at Orton Grange, Dalston, Carlisle. As part
of our planning application for this exciting
new development, which includes a new access
roundabout on the A595, Dobbies are keen to
know what you think of the proposals. You can
do this in one (or more) of three ways:

Come
to the exhibition and public consultation
in the Victory Hall, Dalston on Wednesday
19th March 2008 between 2pm and 9pm. This
event will be run by Dobbies and will give
you the chance to view plans and discuss your
interest and concerns with Dobbies staff.

can make a comment here
on the Dalston website using our normal form.
Your feedback on this site will help to inform
the District and Parish Council and will be
extremely useful when the time comes to consider

Festival
2007 Consultation - a new consultation for
a new Festival. Last year the feeling was that
we couldn't better the event, but this year there
has been more of the same (scarecrows, gala etc.).
It is quite obvious, from the number of participants,
that a huge number of people have entered into
the spirit of the event. Why not take this opportunity

Unitary Authority Proposals - tell us what you
think about the various proposals to change local
government in Cumbria from a 2-tier to a single
or unitary tier system. |

event in 2007. If you would like an event next

be a full week or just a long weekend. Also, do

St
Michael's Church Consultation - the church
is the heart of any English village. St Michael's
Church has been part of Dalston for many centuries.
Recently the PCC has invited comment on some ideas
to alter the church entrance, provide a toilet
in the current porch and to remove the first three
rows of pews at the front of the nave. First of
all, read
the report which has been written following
the meeting of 29th September, and then record
your comments. |
