Removal of BT Telephone Boxes in Dalston Area

BT plan to remove a number of payphones across Carlisle District and have consulted the City Council.

In order for Carlisle City Council to reply it is inviting local residents' views on the proposed removal of 27 phone boxes.

In their letter of notification to the Council, BT said that calls made from their payphones had more than halved in the last three years with 60% of the 61,792 payphones in Britain no longer covering their cost. BT has out a review of its payphone provision and is now proposing the removal of a number of payphones in the district.

Proposed New Dobbies Garden World, Orton Grange, Dalston, Carlisle

A Dobbies Garden World is being proposed on land at Orton Grange, Dalston, Carlisle. As part of our planning application for this exciting new development, which includes a new access roundabout on the A595, Dobbies are keen to know what you think of the proposals. You can do this in one (or more) of three ways:

  1. Come to the exhibition and public consultation in the Victory Hall, Dalston on Wednesday 19th March 2008 between 2pm and 9pm. This event will be run by Dobbies and will give you the chance to view plans and discuss your interest and concerns with Dobbies staff.
  2. You can use Dobbies own on-line consultation form which can be accessed by clicking here. Please do let Dobbies Garden World know what you think.
  3. You can make a comment here on the Dalston website using our normal form. Your feedback on this site will help to inform the District and Parish Council and will be extremely useful when the time comes to consider the planning application. This is your opportunity to comment on the proposals.
