Below is a scan of the judges comments and recommendations following their visit to Dalston in July 2006. Quite apart from all the householders and some of the village institutions, particular thanks are due to Judy Rickerby, Oliver Rickerby, Jean Rawstron, Ian Newton, the pupils of St Michael's School and Liz Auld for co-ordinating Dalston's entry and for looking after the judges on inspection day.

Particular congratulations should be given to the residents of Barras House for their work in making that part of the village so attractive.
