Dalston Traffic and Parking Questionnaire

Dalston is becoming more and more congested, of that there is no doubt. On some days there are cars parked in every available space, including right down the Kingsway to the White Bridge.

The Parish Council feels that it has to act sooner rather than later as the situation is only likely to deteriorate over the coming few years. At the end of 2007 it commissioned a questionnaire and this was distributed via the Parish Paper delivery team and by individual delivery to some of the households which are known not to receive the Magazine.

Where possible the questionnaire delivered to businesses were colour coded, making it possible to analyse the results for households and businesses separately.

The results of the questionnaire have now been published. The summary results of the questionnaire can be read by clicking here.

Question 19 on the questionnaire asked for comments relating to parking problems elsewhere in Dalston. A large number of anonomous responses were received. They have been faithfully reproduced and hopefully are as the respondent wrote on the questionnaire. These can be read by clicking here.

The Parish Council is actively exploring some of the ideas which came from the questionnare and would now like to engage in some face-to-face dialogue with the Parish. A Saturday morning has therefore been set-aside in March so that people can come to the Victory Hall and hear about progress made and put forward further ideas for consideration. The event will also give Mr Peter Messenger, the City Council's Principle Conservation Officer, the opportunity to talk about the proposed changes to the Dalston Conservation Area. If you haven't already read the excellent report on these proposals then you can do so by clicking here.
