Dalston
Parish Plan Celebration
- a stunningly successful Parish get together
was held in the Victory Hall on Saturday 3rd September
2005 to celebrate our Parish and the publication
of our Parish Plan. The event was chaired by Pauline
Dalton. The principal speaker was Mr Eric Martlew
MP, but the occasion was also graced by the Mayor
of Carlisle, Mrs Sandra Fisher, and the Chief
Executive of Carlisle City Council, Maggie Mooney.
Over 30 Parish organisations, voluntary and commercial,
put on a display. Tea, coffee and nibbles were
provided by Dalston WI (with thanks to all the
ladies concerned) and a wine bar was also very
popular (with thanks to Peter Garnett and David
Dalton). As usual with these events, their success
is due to lots of helpers, both from the Parish
Plan and Parish Design Statement committees, the
latter chaired by Ian Turnbull. Special thanks
must go to Liz Auld, Dalston Parish Clerk for
attending to the finer details and ensuring that
nothing was forgotten, and also to Donna Kelsey
for making all the stand signs. An event like
this just shows how community minded Dalstonians
really are. |
