Dalston Parish Council Notices November and December 2006

PRECEPT – Dalston Parish Council agreed at the meeting held on 14th November 2006 to set the Precept at £32,000 for 2007/08. This will be a cost of £30.43 for a D Band dwelling; an increase of £1.42. Hopefully this will enable the Station entrance improvements to be undertaken and other capital projects, as identified in the Parish Plan, to be progressed.

THE GREEN RIVERBANK – A few sections of the rock armour on The Green area of the riverbank have become unstable. In the interests of safety it has been agreed to erect some temporary fencing and warning signs around the affected areas. Because the Caldew and its banks form part of the Eden Site of Special Scientific Interest, work can only be carried out at certain times of the year and with the consent of English Nature and the Environment Agency. The rock armour will not be replaced, but some bioengineering works might be possible. It is highly likely, dependent on costs and the availability of financial support to the Parish Council, that any work will be phased over the next few years.

CONSERVATION AREA APPRAISAL – as part of the Dalston Design Statement adoption procedure, a Conservation Area appraisal is required. The Carlisle City Council Conservation Officer is undertaking this task for Dalston, but would appreciate assistance and input from residents with local knowledge. If you are interested in helping with this, please contact the Clerk (01228 712920 or liza@carlisle-city.gov.uk ).as soon as possible.
