Following
the work done on the Dalston Design Statement it was
suggested that the Dalston Conservation Area should
be reviewed. During 2007 the Carlisle conservation team
met with some Dalston residents and members of the Parish
Council to thoroughly review the present conservation
area and consider whether any changes were required.
A
report has now been produced by Carlisle City Council
called the Dalston
Conservation Area Review and this can be read in
full by clicking this link.
The
report comes out with a number of recommendations, not
least that the current conservation area should be extended
to include Bridge End in the south, the Showfield and
a significant tract of agricultural land to the west
of Green Lane as well as Buckabank to the east. A map
of the proposed extension is included in the Dalston
Conservation Area Review report.
Having
read this report if you would like to comment immediately,
you can complete our own website consulation by clicking
here. This website consulation is completely secure
and there is no requirement for you to disclose any
personal details. However, if you would like to ensure
that you are notified about the future public meeting,
then please include your email address.
At
a meeting of the Carlisle City Council Infrastructure
and Scrutiny Committee on 29th November 2007, which
was attended by Ronnie Auld (PC Chairman) and Liz Auld
(PC Clerk) the members accepted the report and recommended
that a full public consultation be held in the early
part of 2008.
As
the Parish Council are hoping to hold their own public
consultation meeting on the subject of traffic, car
parking and The Square where the results of the recent
questionnaire will be discussed, it was agreed that
it would be good to combine these two events. |
