HISTORY
The Choir was formed in January l988 and recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary Season. Our 34 current members are drawn mainly from the Dalston area, but the Choir welcomes members from all areas, provided they are willing to travel to Dalston for rehearsals. We have a Musical Director and Accompanist with wide experience in the musical world and this is reflected in the varied types of music we perform.
AIMS
• To enjoy group singing.
• To share this enjoyment with others, particularly through charitable events.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held in the Methodist Chapel in Dalston each Wednesday afternoon from 2.00 pm until 3.30 pm. We normally have a break in summer from the middle of June until the beginning of September. Please come along if you would like to join us. The entrance is through the side door of the Chapel.
SUBSCRIPTION
An annual subscription of £30.00 is payable to cover the cost of original music.
CONCERTS AND SOCIAL EVENTS
The Choir generally perform Concerts at Midsummer and Christmas in St Michael’s Church in Dalston. We welcome enquiries from organisations who may like to be entertained by one of our concerts. Please contact our Secretary for dates, fees etc. Together we enjoy a Christmas Lunch and Summer meal and organise a Coffee Morning to raise funds in Springtime.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME A MEMBER?
We welcome sopranos and contraltos and the ability to read music is not necessary as long as you can sing in tune. Every voice range can be accommodated. An audition is not necessary.
Much of our music is in two or three part harmonies.
