WARNING - our community policeman, Colin
Hird, has sent a warning about a doorstep scam that
has arrived in the county. |
The scam involves persons putting mailing cards
through the letter boxes of local residents suggesting
that they have tried to deliver a parcel and that
they were not able to deliver it .
The mailshot is from an alleged company called
PARCEL DELIVERY SERVICE. This
is NOT a genuine company.
The mailshot goes on further to state that the
occupant should dial a number that is provided
on the mailshot in order to arrange delivery.
The parcel does not exist.
This scam originates in Cetral America in the
country of BELIZE!!
The telephone number provided to contact
is 0906 6611911. This is a premium rate number
and as soon as the call is connected the caller
is automatically billed for a minimum of £15.!!!!
If anyone receives one of these mail shots then
they should contact ROYAL MAIL FRAUD on 0207 2396655.
Alternatively they could contact ICSTIS the premium
rate service regulator on www.icstis.org.uk via
the internet. |
