Once
again the Dalston Art Group held an exhibition
of their work in the Victory Hall over the first
weekend of the 2007 Dalston Festival. The standard,
as always, was very high. About a dozen members
were represented and many of the founder members
were present (three of whom are featured below).
The
exhibition was the Group's contribution to the
community spirit engendered by the Festival,
and it was gratifying that so many enjoyed looking
and what has been done, or is in the process
of being done. Most members were present for
most of the two days and enjoyed meeting so
many visitors and talking to them about their
work. Liz Walsh and George McVittie very bravely
actually did some painting and drawing in the
process of completing painting while people
were looking round, and some inquisitive children
needed to be restrained from the pleasure of
sticking their fingers into wet paint!
Anne Marston painted the picture which was the
first prize in the raffle.
While selling was not the main aim of the exhibition,
some cards and pictures were bought, but above
all, hearing people express their appreciation
of what they saw was reward in itself.
The
raffle picture was won by Elizabeth Auld.
