Dalston
Festival 2006 has been organised by a group
of dedicated people, the sort that all villages
just could not run without. The Chairman, Alan
Dinning, has been a tireless worker for Dalston
Recreation Association for many years and was
the natural person to lead the group. His quiet
efficiency has ensured that the Festival has
run without too many hitches.
The
Treasurer's job is never an easy one, but past
Chairman of the the Parish Council, John Kelsey,
was able to make the books balance, successfully
obtaining a grant of £2280 from the National
Lottery through 'Awards for All' (a full list
of sponsors can be found by clicking here).
Bryan
Craig ran the publicity side of the event, and
was also involved in nearly every aspect of
the Festival. His scarecrow building expertise
was used by many (and his own scarecrow was
an illustration of this task).
Mary
Walton is a dedicated worker for all things
floral in the Parish. Her wise council has helped
to 'keep the show on the road' when everyone
around her was faltering.
Judy
Rickerby surprised even herself by the support
for the scarecrow festival and many people who
did not build a scarecrow this year are now
looking forward to next year's event so that
they can take part. As well the scarecrows,
Judy was also involved in the background in
many of the other events.
Dalston
was very lucky to have Peter Kirby living in
the village. He was able to bring his vast experience
with Silloth Festival to the table. His knowledge
of how to build festival floats and manage a
Parade of Floats ensured the success of this
part of the Dalston Festival.
The
committee secretary was Linda Roadnight, and
grateful thanks are due to her for dealing with
the minutes and other secretarial duties.
