CEMETERY FEES

Payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before death was, an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Dalston, Cumbria; or who, prior to moving to sheltered accommodation with members of the family or otherwise was an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Dalston; or in the case of a still-born child where one of the parents is, or at the time of interment was, such an inhabitant or parishioner.

In all other cases the fees, payments and sums will be doubled, except if specifically itemised as in Part 1, 1 (iv), but those set out in Parts 1 and 3 will not be doubled where the exclusive right of burial in the grave in question, or the right of constructing the grave, was acquired at the single fee shown in Part 2.

PART 1 INTERMENT

1.
The fees include the digging of the grave and use of grave mats. They apply only where interment takes place on Mondays to Fridays inclusive. For interments taking place on Saturdays the fees will be increased by one half. For interments on Sundays (which shall be permitted only in emergency certified by a coroner or Registered Medical Practitioner that immediate burial is necessary) the fees will be doubled.

For the interment of:

(i)
The body of a still-born child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 1 month
FOC
(ii)
The body of a child whose age at the time of death exceeded 1 month but did not exceed 18 years

(iii)
The body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 18 years
£350.00
(iv)
The body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 18 years and lived outside the Parish
£600.00
2. For the interment of cremated remains
£100.00
  For the interment of body parts, blocks, slides
£40.00

Burial arrangements should not be made until the agreement of the Clerk or the Councillor responsible for the Cemetery has been obtained.

PART 2 EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS OF BURIAL IN EARTHEN GRAVES

1.
For the exclusive right of burial in an earthen grave 9 feet by 4 feet
£400.00
2.
For the exclusive right of burial of cremated remains in an earthen grave 2 feet by 2 feet
£100.00

The fees include the Deed of Grant and all the expenses thereof.


PART 3 GRAVESTONES AND INSCRIPTIONS

1.
For the right to erect or place on a grave a headstone with a base not exceeding 3 feet in width and 3 feet 6 inches in height
£65.00
2.
For the right to place horizontally on a grave space for the interment of cremated remains a memorial stone 2 feet by 2 feet
£65.00

The Parish Council retains the right to remove any additional objects other than the headstone or memorial stone.

INSCRIPTIONS AND VASES

The fees shown in PART 3 include the first inscription. For each subsequent inscription or vase the fee is £42.00

The fee for a moveable vase on an un-purchased grave space is as above  

The size and type of headstone or memorial stone and inscriptions should receive the approval of the Parish Council before erection or placement and before any work commences. The appropriate fee must accompany the application for consent to erect a headstone, additional inscription etc. All memorials and their installation must comply with the National Association of Memorial Masons Code of Practice.
